Plastic and fiber production1,4-butanediol is mainly used as a solvent in the production of plastics and fibers in industry, as well as a raw material for producing other chemical products.
Polyester and polyurethane production1,4-butanediol is an important raw material for the production of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyurethane.
Tetrahydrofuran production1,4-butanediol is also used to produce tetrahydrofuran, which is an important organic solvent.
(1) Acetylene method: Acetylene reacts with two molecules of formaldehyde to produce 1,4-butanediol, which is then hydrogenated to produce 1,4-butanediol.
(2) Maleic anhydride hydrogenation method: Using maleic anhydride as the raw material, 1,4-butanediol is synthesized through hydrogenation reaction.
(3) Butadiene method: 1,3-butadiene undergoes acetyl oxidation with acetic acid and oxygen to produce 1,4-diacetyloxy-2-butene, which is then hydrogenated and hydrolyzed to produce 1,4-butanediol.
