Main uses
Polyester field1,6-hexanediol can be used to produce unsaturated polyester. Due to its carbon chain being more difficult to hydrolyze than other short chain alcohol unsaturated polyesters and having better flexibility, it can improve the alkali resistance of the resin and enhance its adhesion with glass fibers.
Polyurethane field1,6-hexanediol can be used to produce polyester resin and modify polyurethane elastomers. The modified resin has excellent mechanical strength, water resistance, heat resistance, and oxidation resistance.
Other fields1,6-hexanediol can also be used as a solvent, an intermediate in organic synthesis, and in the production of active monomers for photocurable coatings, printing inks, dyeing agents, etc.
Production methods
1,6-hexanediol can be produced through various methods, one of which is the catalytic reduction of diethyl adipate or dimethyl adipate in the presence of metallic sodium or ethanol.
