Main uses

Rigid foam and insulation
MDI is essential for rigid PU foams in refrigeration, building insulation panels and pipes, with excellent thermal efficiency.
Coatings / Adhesives / Sealants (CAS)
Pure and polymeric MDI are used in coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers for construction, footwear and automotive parts.
Binders and composites
MDI-based binders are applied in composite wood panels, foundry sands and insulation boards.

Production methods

MDI is manufactured by phosgenation of methylene diphenyl diamine (MDA), produced via condensation of aniline and formaldehyde. Polymeric MDI (pMDI) is a blend of higher-functionality homologues.
